Calibration of an alcohol tester

All equipment requires maintenance. With preventive maintenance you prevent unnecessary downtime and guarantee the functioning and reliability of your equipment. Alcohol testers are no exception.

Why calibrate?

  • To maintain the accuracy of the device, it must be regularly calibrated (= adjustment of the sensor).
    • By using the device, the zero point shifts. The more tests are administered, the more the zero point will shift.
    • High alcohol concentrations have an enhanced effect on the shift
    • Sensor sensitivity decreases with devices that are not or rarely used.
  • The warranty becomes void if the calibration intervals are not followed.
  • The device's instructions for use state after how much time or how many tests (whichever comes first) it must be recalibrated. Usually this is 6 months/500 tests or 1 year/1000 tests.

Calibration at Alcoline

  • Any alcohol tester that you have purchased from Alcoline can also be calibrated at Alcoline. If desired, we also calibrate devices purchased elsewhere, provided they are comparable models or if we have the manual for calibration.
  • The date for the next calibration is stated on the service sticker on the device. If this is missing, assume 6 or 12 months after the purchase date
  • Press it CALIBRATION RETURN FORM and send it fully completed and signed with your alcohol tester(s). Do not forget to postage sufficiently on the shipment.
  • You do not need to send the original packaging and accessories. Make sure you have proper packaging to prevent damage during transport. We also recommend sending it with a tracking code so that it can be easily traced if lost.
