FAQ
Yes of course. But the test result can only be used as a guideline for blood alcohol content and not as legal evidence.
This often causes confusion because there are different ways to display the alcohol content.
In Belgium and the Netherlands the limit is 0,5 ‰ (per mille) = 0,50 mg/ml (mg alcohol per ml of blood) = 0,5 g/l BAC (blood alcohol content). Above that, it is punishable to participate in traffic.
However, the alcohol content is initially measured in the exhaled alveolar air (AAG) and is then converted to BAC by the device. This conversion differs per country.
In the Netherlands and Belgium, 0,5 ‰ BAC is equal to 220 µg/l or 0,22 mg/l AAG
In addition, other limit values apply to certain groups:
Netherlands: novice drivers: 88 µg/l or 0,2 ‰
Belgium: professional drivers: 88 µg/l or 0,2 ‰
If you want to know more about this conversion, you can find more information here
These are the alveoli in the ends of your lungs. The alcohol enters the lungs via exchange with the blood vessels.
Variables such as body weight, metabolism, stomach filling, physical condition and especially time influence the alcohol content.
You probably measured mouth alcohol during the first test, which gives a higher result. In addition, the body has already processed some of the alcohol previously consumed.
You can do this by completing the online registration form, which can be found on our website under info/registration.
Send the device or sensor module to our address in Belgium , Rijkmakerlaan 9A, 2910 Essen, or in the Netherlands , Kapitein de Petithof 1, 4661 ZJ Halsteren, for the attention of the Calibration Department . We will arrange the return transport; however, you must indicate in your order how we may return it (DPD Home, DPD Parcelshop, or Express transport). Dropping off and picking up the device is also possible, but only at Alcoline Essen, as the calibration laboratory is located there. A calibration normally takes 1 to 2 days, but an expedited procedure is also possible for an additional fee.
Some articles have an additional menu where you can choose from multiple options, such as product type (standard or comprehensive) or the option for a second-chance device instead of a new one. Drug tests often offer an option to specify the number of drug groups to be detected. So, check the article carefully to see if there's a drop-down menu where you can make a selection.
Orders placed on weekdays before 2:00 PM are usually shipped the same day. Deliveries within Belgium and the Netherlands usually take 1 to 14 business days. If an item is out of stock, we will contact you to discuss an alternative or to arrange a shipping date. As soon as an order is shipped, you will receive an email with the shipment's tracking code.
The Ketoscan mini also requires maintenance. After 300 tests, the sensor must be replaced and the device recalibrated. See our calibration page for more information about costs and returning your device.
Currently, during roadside checks, the police use a rapid saliva test that screens for cocaine, opiates, amphetamine, methamphetamine/designer drugs (e.g., ecstasy, MDMA), and cannabis (THC). In Belgium, the police use the Dräger Drugcheck 3000 during roadside checks; in the Netherlands, the police use the Drugwipe 5S . Both items are available from Alcoline . If you provide a positive test result, a counter-analysis will be performed via laboratory analysis; for this, the police may take a saliva or blood sample. A positive drug test is almost always immediately followed by an immediate driving ban.
The detection time of drugs in saliva varies by substance, frequency of use, and individual factors such as metabolism and oral hygiene. Here is an overview of the average detection times for a single use: Cannabis (THC) – 6 to 8 hours (sometimes up to 48 hours for frequent users), Cocaine – 3 to 4 hours (up to 8 hours with heavy use), Speed (amphetamines) – 10 to 20 hours (up to 40 hours with heavy use), Ecstacy (MDMA) – 16 to 40 hours (up to 58 hours with repeated use), Heroin / Morphine – 5 to 15 hours, GHB – 4 to 8 hours (sometimes disappears faster) Please note: these times are indicative, factors such as dosage, route of administration (smoking, swallowing, snorting), and your dental health can affect detection times.
